The song was introduced to Ed by his father Eddie "fingers" Reinhart, who toured as a pianist around the Mid-West and had a regular radio show during the 1920's and 30's in Louisville Kentucky.
The song was written by Big Bill Broonzy who was one of the most prolific blues recording artists of the period.
The genesis of the album, over the years while I was visiting singer Paula Samonte in Ukiah California, she had mentioned on numerous occasions that I should meet Ed Reinhart. In 2007 Ed and Paula had a gig in downtown Los Angeles, so I decided that I needed to go see them and meet Ed. Over the next couple days Ed visited my Santa Monica compound. At the time I was recording my album Let's Connect at Steve Reid's studio The Sonic Jungle in North Hollywood. Steve and I decided it might be fun to record a jam session with myself on harmonica, Ed on piano and vocals, Paula Samonte on vocals and Steve adding some percussion.
After listening to the unplugged tracks for years, I decided to augment the songs with bass guitar, played by Doug Ross, and my brother Jerry Cooper on drums. This became my 2019 album "This Time Tomorrow." In the Summer 2019 Ed came to visit me in the northwest and at that time we recorded this video.
